Erica Franklin

Erica Franklin studied political science at Yale University, focusing on urban policy. She entered the New York City Urban Fellows Program after graduation and was placed at the City’s Department of Correction (DOC). She spent almost two years at DOC’s office of Programs and Discharge Planning, where she worked with a variety of organizations to combat recidivism by connecting incarcerated individuals to housing, jobs, benefits, drug treatment, healthcare, and social services.

She is currently a second year law student at UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall). She is particularly interested in urban poverty, women’s rights, youth, criminal justice, and mental health and worked at the National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) in the summer of 2008.
